This site was created as a proof of concept. Its goal was to provide an online outlet for the fictional Soviet Department of Glasnost and Perestroika. Mikhail Gorbachev’s late 1980s policies enabled citizens of the Soviet Union to speak out and to get information about what was going on. The policies also created new opportunities for economic success (and failure). A site like this would have been instrumental in promoting Gorbachev’s policies if the internet existed back then. bludrop studios designed the site and coded it in XHTML 1.1, CSS, and PHP.
